Orthotics And Prosthetics

Orthotics is the science that deals with the use of specialized mechanical devices to support or supplement weakened or abnormal joints/ limbs. Patients who benefit from an orthosis may have a condition such as spina bifida or cerebral palsy or have experienced a Spinal Cord Injury or Stroke. Similarly, orthoses are sometimes used prophylactically to optimize performance in sports.

Prosthetics are Artificial Devices that replace a Missing Body Part, which may be lost due to
Trauma, Disease, or Congenital Conditions. Prosthetic Amputee Rehabilitation is primarily coordinated by a Prosthetist and an Interdisciplinary Team of Health Care Professionals, including Psychiatrists, Surgeons, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists.
